EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS

Ever since the start of my career, I have been passionate about reducing the educational gap that remains in the urban and rural students of Nepal. This section highlights the various projects I have contributed to help me reach my bigger goal of making education accessible for all.

Team Member

In the year 2018, Mahima took hold of the emotional literacy campaign as a part of her Social Experience Project for the completion of her undergraduate course. The program was mainly  focused on teaching values like emotional intelligence to adolescent students from government schools of Nepal keeping in mind the emotional changes adolescence brings with it.

Co-educator & Translator

In the year 2019, SEVA Service Learning, a not-for-profit organization invited a few educators from the United States to Nepal for an exchange program. Mahima took on the role of co-educator and translator during the 10 day program and helped the US educators facilitate their lesson plans with Nepali students by doing translation work. She also facilitated the communication between US educators and Nepali educators. Even today, Mahima shares a good relation with the team members of the school and she recently made a video showing the vivid ambitions these students have and what facilities do we need to provide to support these students fulfill their dreams. The objective behind making the video was to raise awareness on reducing the educational inequality between the urban area students and rural area students of Nepal.

Project Supervisor for Nepal

Empathy Week is an organization that distributes a curriculum focused on teaching students across the world about 'Empathy' through short movies. The underprivileged schools from developing countries are prioritized to use this curriculum developed by Empathy Week with the goal of helping students learn about social and emotional intelligence. In the year 2021, Mahima worked as the project supervisor of Empathy Week for Nepal under the ambassadorship of Ms. Bhawana Shrestha. The curriculum of Empathy Week which was presented in the form of English short movies was translated into Nepali by Mahima keeping in mind the language barrier. The team mentored by Mahima from Nepal also ended up winning the Global Empathy Awards 2021. The translated versions of lesson plans along with video links of how Mahima conducted classes are here.
